The European Union has imposed a limit of 10 micrograms per liter (valid both for its mineral waters and for those intended for human consumption) under which the water can be considered safe for both adults and infants. Arsenic is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a carcinogen certain Class 1, and placed in direct correlation with many cancer, and in particular with the cancer of the lung, bladder, kidney and skin.
