Lauretana
To understand better the reality of the present industrial settlement of Lauretana S.p.A. some historical hints are essential to point out the importance that the unequalled characteristics of our water have had since last century. The Shrine of Graglia was seat of an important spa founded in 1883; among the guests of honour who used to spend at “Graglia Bagni” long periods of rest we are glad to remember some celebrated names of the Italian history, as for example Queen Margherita, Giolitti, Carducci, De Amicis and Eleonora Duse. The complex “Graglia Bagni” remained active until the beginning of World War II.In 1964 the present ownership buys the estate where the spring is situated , here the water springs very pure from the living rock (at 1050 m above sea level), exactly above Graglia Shrine, in one of the greenest valleys of Piedmont. The factory is built at 850 m of height and is
equipped with the most modern lines of production. Since then we have produced Lauretana water, so called in honour of Madonna di Loreto, worshipped in the above mentioned Shrine.
1980 was a crucial year in the story of this firm; the heavy snowfall in March 1980 in fact caused the collapse of a part of the factory, but immediately, in the whole area of the Shrine, a show of solidarity started to help the firm.This spontaneous help allowed to face the needs and to rise again in a short time. What happened at that time shows how Lauretana is an important heritage for Biella and the pride to be able to represent our beautiful land in Italy and in the world grew in the firm.
Lauretana is a water in the least mineralized, Its ionic composition classifies it as bicarbonate and rich in Calcium. It is demonstrated that bicarbonate-calcic waters are more diuretic than the sodic ones, moreover they have on the stomach and on the liver an action of stimulus expressing into an evident facility of the digestive function. Even if synthetic, therefore limited, the ministerial definition of the most important qualities of Lauretana water is sufficiently representative of its intrinsic qualities:
- Indicated for diets poor in sodium
- It can have diuretic effects
- It aids the elimination of uric acid
