They come back: The villages of street food around Italy. This year also the food truck

The best Italian street food labeled “Streetfood” in 2016 starts from March with the first date of the national tour and will do a real novelty: will be present for the first time the “food truck”, mobile workers on equipped van with the new project Streetfood signed that takes the significant name of “4wheels”, a brand that recalls the food on wheels but the organizers are always “those with the curtain.”

So in a period in which everywhere proliferate events related to this “fashion”, the only association, the first in Italy to have gathered and protected street workers, it was called and recalled to promote events throughout the course of the year.

There will be over 30 events scheduled. The tour will begin in March in Castelfiorentino (Florence), in Tuscany, and will end in November in Belluno. More dates already from last year. The formula does not change, but rather it enhances the already strong presence of millions of people reached last year. Among the big news, in addition to three events where street food will bind to wine appellations with “wine tour” provided in Nizza Monferrato (At), Senigallia (An) and San Casciano Val di Pesa (Fi) in the Chianti Classico , also one “Streetfish Village” to be held in Senigallia in September. The Streetfood Village are synonymous with celebration, promotion of good street food, but also a time by which individual cities and towns that host them are able to promote and in some cases even revive urban areas of particular interest. “We were born to bring the culture of street food around – explains Massimiliano Ricciarini, president of Streetfood – but also to help individual territories to revive.”

The food truck with the curtain are the big news of the activities promoted by the Association in 2016. Under the brand “4wheels” for now it will be two exclusive events scheduled, in Arezzo in Tuscany, from 8 to 10 April and in Chioggia, in Veneto, 13 to 15 May. “We have involved three truck already in our first event in 2010 in Marciano (Ar) – continues Ricciarini – and even then we had a clear idea of how this industry would have developed and today we have the knowledge and the right tools to be able to expand this world even at this kind of street workers “. It is a way of interpreting in a modern way the street food, while not losing the essential values that are then those collected from the Decalogue of street food that the association carries and wuth which selects its partners.

In last year’s event, 28 as I said, the latest in Belluno, were reached throughout Italy nearly two million people who consumed more than 1 ton of fried fish and 600 tons of traditional french fries and type “tornado”. Over 50 thousand piadine, then again 100,000 arancine, 800 kilos of ca ‘Meusa bread, 500 kilos of panelle. Over a ton of Spanish paella, 60 quintals of Argentine meat and 40 quintals of lampredotto. From Puglia are arrived more than 70 quintals of bombette and 600 are the kilos for lime cocktail “on the road”. From Abruzzo 120,000 arrosticini and from Tuscany 600 kilos of Chianina meat for burgers. A success not only for the organizers of the events, but to share with the economic operators of the sector and territories who have believed in this project. Also dozens of side events, moments of confrontation and conferences, a competition dedicated to the national press and dozens of concerts that were the backdrop to the various stages.
